AF KULE (Trekking in the forest and historical place overlooking to the deep blue mediterranean)

HISTORY

According  to the legend the monastery was built by a monk named Elefterios using simple the tools the acguired as a beggar he carved the rocks for the rest of his life.It must have been a severe trial.



HOW TO GO THERE…

Past the Kaya Village on the way To the Gemiler cove  where the road enters a thick forest There is a branch to the right ; Straight on goes down the Gemiler cove.Take the forest road to the right Which comes to an end after 1 km.You should leave your vehicles here and cover the rest of the way on foot.


From that point and bye following the painted  Stones within the forest.As the forest path gives no clues as to what is waiting for you at the end. Af Kule can be reached in about 30 minutes.




At the Af Kule once you are out of the forest the panorama overlooking the sea is overwhelming.






You just listen to the birds, whisper of the winds and sound of the waves…You  will be surprised  when you are looking at the endless horizon.





Please do not forget to wear your sport shoes when you go…You should  take something to drink and to eat so you are going to need little break on the way while you are walking.
